Saving Water and Power

We have provided this information in the interest of assisting you to save and reduce your power and water bills

Saving Water

  • Take shorter showers.
  • Run dishwashers only when they are full.
  • Don’t leave the tap running while you brush your teeth.
  • Report quickly leaking taps and toilets and other leaks that can waste water (refer to our reporting repairs procedure).

Saving Power

  • Turn lights off when you leave the room.
  • Turn off appliances that aren’t being used.
  • Close off areas that don’t need to be heated or cooled.
  • Fill kettles with cold water and only as much as you need at one time.
  • Microwave ovens use less power than conventional electric ovens.
  • Use cold water in the washing machine where possible.
  • Set your hot water heater to no more than 65oC.
  • Look at the energy efficiency rating of appliances before you buy.
